Why have an annual Retreat?

A retreat away from your usual world with new scenery, good times, quiet space and a planned, facilitated discussion can be vibrantly restorative to your family (team) relationships.

A formal annual process helps the group stay connected with aligned direction. Focused time and space provide room for considered discussions and important decisions. Formal time is provided to take stock of, and celebrate, the past year’s accomplishments.

There is time to refocus on vision, values, and mission. It is a time to ask “How are we doing?” Especially in these stressful financial times, the retreat provides an opportunity to clear the air and strengthen team bonds. Even if only for a full day, a retreat can add a whole new dimension to the experience of working—and playing—together. Connections in the unplanned moments are an important part of (family) team building.

We facilitate so you can participate.

What is a facilitator?

The facilitator’s job is to support everyone to do their best thinking and practice. To do this, the facilitator encourages full participation, promotes mutual understanding and cultivates shared responsibility. By supporting everyone to do their best thinking, a facilitator enables group members to search for inclusive solutions and build sustainable agreements.

The facilitator is a neutral guide, helping the group arrive at its own best answers. The role has been likened to that of a midwife who assists in the process of birth but is not the producer of the end result.

Advantage Family Business Center’s Facilitators will:

1)  Assist in crafting the agenda for your strategy session or board meeting

2)  Facilitate the discussion at the meeting.

3)  Write up  conclusion and action steps agreed upon

4)  Lead follow -up conference calls with the group
